OCS Takeaways

I left OCS with the confirmation it is a duty and privilege to serve. The values, the stress and the adherence to a collective set of principles produces leaders who produce positive results.

The opportunity to lead Soldiers is privilege and not a right. Leadership is not about likeership, it is holding troopers accountable to established standards; ensuring extraordinary performances are recognized and rewarded. Leadership is not for the faint of heart.

Be a Leader--lead your troops and take care of them. Stand up for what is right and use the authority you have as an officer to make your team better. Focus on your Soldiers and develop their skills. Listen to your NCOs and rely on their experience.
