Biography

General Frederick Kroesen is one of very few Infantrymen authorized to wear the Combat Infantry Badge with two stars, denoting active combat in three wars. He commanded troops in World War II, Korea and Vietnam, and later commanded the 82nd Airborne Division, VII Corps, Seventh U.S. Army, U.S. Army Europe, NATO Central Army Group and ended his career as the Vice Chief of Staff of the Army. In addition to surviving combat in three wars, as a General Officer he survived a terrorist attack on his vehicle while stationed in Germany. During his service, he was awarded the Silver Star w/ Oak Leaf Cluster, a Distinguished Flying Cross, Bronze Star w/ V Device, 29 Air Medals and a Purple Heart w/ two oak leaf clusters.
