Biography

Enlisting in 1961 and rising to the rank of Staff Sergeant, General Johnnie Wilson was commissioned into the Ordnance Corps in 1967. A distinguished logistician, General Wilson served at every level of command. Most notably, he commanded three times at company level -- 82nd Airborne Division, 173rd Airborne Brigade in Vietnam and the 1st Armored Division in Europe. General Wilson’s general officer assignments include Deputy Commanding General, 21st Theater Support Command in Europe – the Army’s largest and most diverse logistics unit, and as the 25th Chief of Ordnance. He ultimately led the Army Material Command consisting of more than 70,000 personnel operating in more than 100 locations worldwide, responsible for the development of weapons systems, maintenance and parts distribution. General Wilson is the recipient of two awards of the Army Distinguished Service Medal and the two awards of the Legion of Merit.
