Biography

Lieutenant Colonel Edgar S. Burroughs was commissioned as an Armor Officer after graduation from Officer Candidate School Class 23-79, 22 October 1970. His military service includes Cold War duty in CONUS, Germany, Korea and combat duty in the middle east as part of Operation DESERT STORM. He was an outstanding Tanker, Cavalryman and Logistician. His highest awards include the Legion of Merit and the Bronze Star Medal. He is also a recipient of the Order of St. George.

Lieutenant Colonel Burroughs joined the U.S. Army OCS Alumni Association Board of Directors in 2011 and has served as Treasurer and Advisor to the Vice President of Administration and the President and Chief Executive Officer from 2016-2019. Ed is credited with playing a leading role in the reorganization of the USAOCSAA. For several years, Ed was a behind-the-scenes leader in the execution of the Annual OCS Alumni Reunion. He provided direct support to the OCS Battalion and each Class for many years. He has also been part of the Association’s Support Team to the OCS Hall of Fame, the Memorial Walk and Wigle Hall.

Lieutenant Colonel Burroughs was recognized for Leadership, Mentorship and Financial Support to the OCS Alumni Association, fellow Alumni, the OCS Battalion and the OCS Candidates with the 2019 Nett Award.
